The Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology (PTIT) held a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the School of Posts and Telecommunications (1953 – 2023), the predecessor of the Academy.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, Prof. Dr. Do Trung Ta – former Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Ta Ngoc Tan, Secretary of Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee Ngo Dong Hai, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son, representatives of leaders of ministries, departments, branches, partner units, localities where the school was stationed and generations of leaders, cadres, employees, lecturers, students and pupils of the Academy.
Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, Director of the Academy, reviewed the 70-year tradition of building and developing the school. Accordingly, 70 years have passed since the first Post and Radio School (VTĐ) was established on September 7, 1953 in Cao Van Commune – Dai Tu District – Thai Nguyen Province with the mission of training at the intermediate level: Training cadres with the capacity equivalent to the Head of the Department; Primary level: training in two departments: the Professional Exploitation Department, with the task of training Postal Exploitation staff and Telephone Operators; the Technical Department trains electricity and radio operators. This is the first Postal staff training school under the new regime. After many name changes such as: Postal Vocational School, Postal – Broadcasting Officer School, University of Information and Communications Technology, Postal Officer School, Postal Telecommunications Training Center I and now the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, although the scale and training level have changed to suit the requirements of each stage, this school is still the “cradle” of training the largest cadres in the country in Posts and Telecommunications and Information Technology.
In Education and Training activities, the Academy has become a bright spot in training high-quality human resources and in the digital transformation strategy of Higher Education, diversifying training professions in the direction of multi-disciplinary and multi-field hybridization such as Multimedia Communications, E-Commerce, Financial Technology, IoT Technology, Control and Automation Engineering, Digital Journalism… to meet the human resource needs for the Industrial Revolution 4.0. In the coming time, the Academy will open a number of training majors oriented towards digital transformation such as Digital Economy, Game Technology, etc.
In Scientific Research activities, the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology always maintains its position as a leading unit in carrying out Scientific Research activities ordered by businesses and society, affirming itself as one of the leading research centers in the field of Posts and Telecommunications and information technology of the country. In addition to the topics and tasks ordered by agencies, organizations and enterprises, the Academy is a reliable address for cooperation in research and technology transfer of large domestic and foreign companies and corporations such as Qualcomm, Samsung, Naver, VinGroup, Naver, VNPT, etc.
In his speech at the Anniversary Ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, Director of the Academy affirmed: “Over the past 70 years, with the attention and facilitation of the Party and State, the love and care of the people, the sincere help of domestic and international friends; With the tireless efforts of generations of staff and students, the former Post and Telecommunications School and today the Post and Telecommunications Academy of Technology have overcome countless difficulties and challenges to successfully complete all assigned tasks in training, scientific research, combat service and business production, have made great contributions and dedications to the cause of Industrialization – Modernization of the country, and have successfully fulfilled the tasks of scientific research – education – training entrusted by the Party, State, Industry and people. Currently, the Academy is one of the leading universities in digital transformation of education with a complete digital ecosystem for students.”.
At the Ceremony, the leaders of the Post and Telecommunications Academy of Technology presented commemorative medals to the localities where the Post and Telecommunications School was stationed and honored the outstanding teachers of the Post and Telecommunications School through the periods. Also at the Ceremony, the delegates pressed the button to launch the PTIT Digital University System.
