Functions, Duties and Powers of the Department

1. Functions

The department is an academic unit, directly responsible for teaching one or several related courses/subjects for all levels of training and education in the institute. In addition to teaching tasks, the department also performs scientific research, technology transfer and teacher training tasks.

2. Duties

The Department has the following tasks:

  1. Responsible for the content, quality, and teaching progress of the subjects assigned in the training program and general teaching plan of the Institute and the faculty.
  2. Developing and completing the subject content, organizing the compilation of textbooks, and developing reference materials in accordance with the subject content assigned by the Dean and the Director of the Institute.
  3. Researching and innovating teaching methods; organizing testing and evaluation of students’ learning process and results according to the regulations of the Institute.
  4. Scientific researching and developing technology, performing scientific and technological services according to the plan of the Institute and the faculty; proactively coordinate with training institutions, scientific and technological organizations, production, business, and services to link training, scientific researching with production activities and social life, supplement financial resources for the Institute; performing social services and international cooperation in the professional fields of the department.
  5. Developing a plan to develop the team of lecturers and scientific staff of the department; participating in training and fostering the team of lecturers and researchers in the specialized field.
  6. Organizing the assessment of management work, training activities, scientific and technological activities of individuals, departments, faculties and the Institute according to the requirements of the Institute Council, the Director and the Dean.
  7. Managing the facilities and equipment of the department.

3. Reason for establishment

The Department is established due to training demans, including full-time lecturers and part-time lecturers, teaching one subject or several related subjects. The number of people in the Department is determined mainly by the teaching volume, taking into account the number of subjects, level of education, type of training, fostering, scientific research volume, and lecturer training.

4. In charge

The Department is headed by the Head of the Department. The Head of the Department is appointed and dismissed by the Director of the Institute upon the proposal of the Dean. The Head of the Department is responsible to the Dean for the leadership and management of all aspects of the Department.
